The IMX991 from Sony Corporation is a 1/4-Type Short-Wavelength Infrared (SWIR) Image Sensor for industrial equipment. The new sensor is capable of capturing images in the visible and invisible light spectrum in the short-wavelength infrared range and boasts a compact size made possible by the industry's smallest 5 &mum pixel size. It has 656 (H) × 520 (V) effective pixels (Approx. 0.34 megapixels) with a unit cell size of 5 (H) x 5 (V) &mum. This product uses Sony's original SenSWIR technology and delivers seamless image capture over a broad range of wavelengths covering from the visible to invisible light spectrum in the short-wavelength infrared range (wavelength: 0.4 to 1.7 &mum).
Employing this product enables sensing even in wavelengths not visible to the human eye, making it possible for the development of cameras and testing equipment for various applications. It supports digital output, matching the performance of current CMOS image sensors for industrial equipment and has frame rates of 130, 240, 250 fps. This image sensor is available in two package options: ceramic PGA with built-in thermoelectric cooling that measures 30.0 (H) x 30.0 (V) mm and Ceramic LGA that measures 20.0 (H) x 16.8 (V) mm. The device is ideal for industrial applications such as material selection, contaminant inspection, and semiconductor inspection.
