The FP4209 from Freedom Photonics are Tunable Lasers that operate at wavelengths of 1280 nm, 1310 nm, 1340 nm, 1550 nm, 1590 nm, 1650 nm, and 1690 nm. They deliver an output power above 5 mW and have a power flatness of ± 0.25 dB. These lasers have an absolute wavelength accuracy of ± 15 pm and wavelength stability of ± 5 pm. They have a tuning range of 35 nm, 40 nm & 45 nm and resolution of tuning range/10k points nm.
The FP4209 have a Side Mode Suppression Ratio (SMSR) of greater than 30 dB and laser linewidth of below 50 MHz. They have a setting time of up to 200 ns and 1 - 10000 number of wavelength steps with a step period of 2 µs - 655.35 µs. These fast random-access tunable (InstaTune) lasers have rapid arbitrary wavelength switching of 2 µs/step and use a configurable look-up table (10k points across the full tuning range).
The FP4209 have a logic output for synchronizing to sweep and can be controlled via USB or fast (25MHz) SPI interfaces. They require a DC supply voltage of 3.3 V - 5 V and consume 200 mA - 1500 mA of current. These lasers are available in C, O, & U bands in a compact, fully self-contained module and are ideal for test & measurement, fiber sensing & atmospheric gas sensing applications.
