The SmartComb from Menlo Systems is an Optical Frequency Comb (OFC) that operates at a wavelength of 630 nm - 2000 nm. It has a center wavelength of 1.5 µm and spectral range of over 25 nm (at 1550 nm). This fully automated OFC has a comb spacing of 100 MHz and an accuracy of 2 x 10-16 (over 100 s) & 1 x 10-14 (over 1000 s). It has a linearly polarized SC/APC polarisation mode laser input port with a stability of less than 7 x 10-16, 5 x 10-13 (in 1 s), and 5 x 10-17 (in 1000 s).
The SmartComb uses technology based on Figure 9® lasers and has a full remote-control turnkey system. It has Rack- and Table-mounted extensions with a chip-scale atomic clock. This OFC requires an AC supply voltage of 100/115/230 V and consumes less than 100 W of power. It is available in a 19" x 3U rack and is ideal for frequency combs in microgravity, ultra-low noise microwave generation, length metrology, quantum optics, new fields in metrology, and laser cooling applications.
